Getting Started

What to Expect on Your First Visit

I will start by asking you how you are feeling and if there is anything you’d like me to focus on. Please let me know if you have any chronic pain, areas of tension or injuries you would like me to address. If none of these are a concern, it’s perfectly okay to say that you just want to relax. I will review your medical history to make sure that you are safe and to make any necessary adjustments to your session. If we are meeting for the first time, I will ask you about your preference for pressure. Please let me know if you have any other requests or anything that you don’t like.

I will step out of the room while you undress, climb on the table and cover your body with clean massage linens. When I step into the room, I will make sure that you are comfortable and use pillows or bolsters to prop your body as needed. During the session, I will check in with you regarding the amount of pressure I am using. Please don’t hesitate to communicate to me at any time if you need me to adjust the level of pressure or if there is anything I can do to make you more comfortable.

After your session, I will leave the room to let you ease off the table and get dressed. Once you are ready, I will meet you outside to check in with how you are feeling and if you have any remaining questions about your treatment. If you came in with pain or an injury, I will recommend a treatment program for you based on my assessment and let you know if a follow-up appointment is needed. I will also check in with you in 1-2 days, but please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or if there are any changes in the way you feel.
